SEAS, initiated by the Swedish cultural institute Intercult, has reached its logical ending. Ten years of wandering around the Black and North Seas created a solid artistic platform, introduced new schemes of cooperation and united artists from different countries.
In 2010 the format of the project changed and went from being a static week-long event to an art expedition. For two weeks, 34 artists traveled to cities in Turkey and Greece. Istambul - Ak?ako?a - ?nye - Camlihemsin - Hopa – Batumi: 6 cities, 6 unexpected public spaces for art - theatrical and dance performances, photo exhibitions, master classes and media installations.
It reminded me of the gypsies in “100 Years of Solitude” who displayed ice and other strange items from their travels around the world. Every day we moved from one city to another, displayed our art, amazed and involved people, experimented with new spatial dimensions and interacted with new audiences. We may not have changed the world for the better, but we remained in the memory of thousands of people and showed them new strange and wonderful things from our countries.
