On July 31, art critics Olga Balashova and Liza German invited several young artists to a plein air session on a roof with a clear view of the urban landscape of Kyiv’s Left Bank. It was followed by an exhibition in an apartment.
The organizers gathered interesting young artists, mostly students of the Academy of Art, and asked them to depict the city in its marginal manifestations and interaction of people in it. The artists could choose their own genre and technique, and had only one restriction – the work had to be completed in a day.
The idea for the plein air originated from the Friday lectures moderated by Balashova and German at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture. They said that their new creative experiment is based on the principles of free communication and equal intellectual participation.
